Record of Events

Throughout the run of Peter Brook's Tierno Bokar , the Columbia University Arts Initiative produced 44 related events, lectures, and workshops that were attended by over 3,200 students, faculty, staff, and community members. Tierno was the centerpiece from which panel discussions were built on subjects that included "Tolerance in the West African Muslim Tradition" and about Mr. Brook's career, which was unknown to many audiences. Tierno Bokar also inspired several film series on campus featuring internationally renowned Tierno cast member Sotigui Kouyat and the films of Peter Brook.

The Harlem Arts Alliance, Columbia University Arts Initiative, and the French Embassy honored Mr. Brook and company at the Museum of the City of New York. Members of the Harlem, Francophile, Columbia, and Tierno communities gathered in celebration and recognition of the power of tolerance, a theme that began with the performance itself and that permeated related events.
